Deborah Fox, CEO of Malvern Hills Trust, spoke about the history and future of the work of the Malvern Hills Trust at the 14 March meeting.
Starting with an intellectual challenge via a short quiz on the past, she also showed how many longstanding challenges remain today, such as sheep worrying, excess water, litter, fires and erosion. Woodland management now involved creating open spaces to encourage plant and wildlife diversity, and coping with Ash Die Back and Sudden Oak Death. Maintaining pathways remains an ever-present task for the many visitors and locals who enjoyed from this unique landscape. A lively question session followed after a talk which was much appreciated by all.
