Talk: Sir Barry Jackson and the Malvern Festival 1929-1937: The Ideal Combination of Event and Environment

Friday 9th February @ 7:30 pm

To be given by James Kelly.

This talk details the history of the Malvern Festival and the role of its founder, Sir Barry Jackson, the foremost theatrical impresario of the time and a Malvern resident. His artistic policy in Malvern focussed on quality drama with an emphasis on the work of George Bernard Shaw. Although the Festival was only four weeks long, it was a significant event, and over 50 plays were presented during the eight years of Jackson’s involvement.
