As in past years, this week of events, organised by the Society, will take place during the last week of June, from Friday, 18th to Sunday 27th, 2021.
The week starts with the Private view of the Moody Retrospective art being exhibited at Elmslie House. Victor Moody and his daughter, Catherine, were much involved in the Malvern School of Art in Albert Road North. He became head of College in 1935 and remained in post until his retirement in 1962 when Catherine took over until 1980. Victor had a distinctive and idiosyncratic style of painting, known as ‘underpainting’. He exhibited at the Royal Academy. Catherine was well known in Malvern as a writer, artist and designer. The exhibition will be open until Saturday, 26th June, entry will be by timed ticket via Ticketsource and full details of times will be in the Midsummer Malvern programme. On Saturday, 26th, there will be a discussion of the Moody lives, led by Dr John Harcup with guests.
The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Bandstand on Saturday, 19th, at 10.30am. There will be music and a chance to see the plans for Priory Park envisaged by Malvern District Council, the Friends of Priory Park and the Malvern Spa Association.
We are all hoping to emerge from Covid19 restrictions on 21st June but to be cautious we have arranged for most events to take place in the open air. There will be guided walks, a Members Social around the Bandstand in Priory Park, a tea and cake visit to view the renovated clock at Great Malvern Station and a Treasure Hunt by car.
Like butterflies we will emerge to enjoy ourselves.
