This page includes some photographs from the events during Midsummer Malvern 2019. Saturday 22nd June - Opening Ceremony Photographs from the Opening Ceremony held on Belle Vue Island. Saturday 22nd June - Schools' Literary Competition Prize Giving at Malvern Theatre Dr John Harcup introduced the Chairman of the Malvern Hills District Council who presented the prizes. There was also music from the Hurdy Gurdy man (Terry Carter) on his baroque instruments and Blind George's Dulcitone, played by Carleton Tarr. Saturday 22nd - Picnic on the Worcestershire Beacon We gathered in Rosebank Gardens with picnics and drinks and followed the Piper up the Beacon enjoying an evening of music at the top. Sunday 23rd June - Bands in the Park The Pillowell Silver Band from The Forest of Dean played in the bandstand. This was spooned by malvern Civic Society. Monday 24th June - Guided Tour of Brockhampton Church This building was inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement. Pevsner, the great authority on British heritage, describes Brockhampton as "one of the most impressive churches of its date in any country". Monday 24th June - Weston Hall Gardens Weston Hall dates back to the 16th century and is surrounded by a 6 acre garden. Over the past 100 years or so, four generations of the Aldrich-Blake family have been enthusiastic stewards of this lovely place. Thursday 27th June - MSJ Plaque Unveiling The Headmistress, Mrs Olivera Raraty unveiled a plaque unveiling of the the plaque celebrating 100 years of girls' education. There is also a news story here Thursday 27th June - Elgar and the Novelist Timothy Day and Sue Gee discuss two novels. Gerontius, by James Hamilton-Patterson, reimagines Elgar’s journey up the Amazon in 1923. In Sue Gee’s Trio, Elgar’s piano pieces called Dream Children weave their way in and out of the story. Saturday 29th June - Jazz Concert This was a great evening, much enjoyed by the audience of about 90. Great musicians and lots of enthusiasm. Sunday 30th June - Cycle Ride This was a 10 mile circular bike ride aimed at young families.
