Some members will be aware that a formal decision was taken in September this year to dissolve the Worcester Malvern National Trust Centre (WMNTC). For several years, Malvern Civic Society (MCS) has had joint continental holidays with WMNTC which have been well-received by those, from each organisation, who have booked on them. In 2021, a joint holiday has been organised to Lake Garda (2 – 10 May) and as mentioned in previous newsletters, this is still intended to proceed: 28 bookings have currently been registered, but some places are still available. However, in addition to these joint continental holidays, WMNTC has also organised a UK holiday each year for its own members, for many years. Next year’s UK holiday is a trip to Scotland, focusing on Edinburgh and Glasgow (from 6 to 11 June), and this holiday is also intended to proceed, notwithstanding the demise of the WMNTC.

Given the closure of the WMNTC, the opportunity is now being taken to open applications for this Scottish holiday to MCS members as well. 24 registrations have already been made by former WMNTC members, but 5 single rooms and 9 twin or double rooms are still currently available.

Full details of the Italian and Scottish holidays, including booking forms, are available here for Lake Garda, and here for the Scottish holiday. Alternatively, printed copies are available for those requesting them from Clive Hooper at Elm Bank, 52 Worcester Road, Great Malvern, WR14 4AB, when accompanied by an SAE.

Those interested should apply as soon as possible, preferably giving credit or debit card payment details rather than sending cheques, the intention being to register applications in order of receipt, but not to forward them to Tailored Travel (the travel agent operating the holidays) until January 2021 after checking with individuals first at that time that they wish to proceed, so that in that way deposits would not have been committed prior to that point.
