Malvern Civic Society Events – OLD PAGE

Coronavirus Update

We are planning to hold all our monthly talks face-to-face at the Eden Centre, Grovewood Road, Malvern, WR14 1GD.

However, the pandemic is still with us and influencing how, and when, we can offer our events.

Our monthly Newsletter for members will contain details of all forthcoming events in that month and is also an important source of information about any changes made necessary by the Covid-19 situation. Changes will also be posted on the website and those who have pre-booked for visits will be notified individually, if necessary.

Booking

Booking for our country walks, town walks and local visits will be via TicketSource.
All events and walks booked are subject to the Terms and Conditions found here.

We are an active society with a full programme of events throughout the year.

All talks, walks, visits and excursions are open to everyone, whether a member of the Society or not. Members do get a discount on some events and there are some member-only events as well. If you are thinking of becoming a member,  please click here.

Monthly Talks

Monthly talks are held on the second Friday of each month and begin at 7.30pm. Refreshments will provided from 7pm, included in the charge of £3 for members and £5 for non-members.
Please check the Newsletter or this website for details of the venue.

Country Walks

There will be eight Country Walks during 2023, taking place on a mixture of Saturdays, Sundays and Thursdays during March to October and finally a post-Christmas walk on Thursday 28th December. The walks on Saturdays will start at 10am and  the Thursday walks will begin at 2pm. There will be a mix of demanding, moderate and relatively easy walks. There is no charge for participating in our walks and details of each walk will be given in the Society’s monthly email to members and on the website.  Please book each walk on TicketSource and do not simply arrive on the day!

For further information, please contact Christopher Barnett on countrywalks@malverncivicsociety.org.uk.

Local visits

Local visits are held during spring, summer and autumn and usually involve using your own transport or a car share and we ask that bookings are made at least four weeks in advance using TicketSource.  For terms and conditions, including our cancellation policy see here.

Booking for visits in 2023 opens on 1st February 2023.

Weekly Town Walks

Our weekly walks around Great Malvern run from Easter to Autumn. The Society’s own guides lead the walks and they start from the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) at 10.30am on Saturday and Monday mornings. The fee is £5 per adult.  Tickets are available online from Ticketsource or directly from the TIC.  As group sizes are limited, booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment.  Note that TicketSource bookings close at 8.00am on Monday for Monday walks and at noon on Friday for Saturday walks and there may be tickets available from the TIC when the TicketSource allocation has been sold.
Holidays
For some years the Worcester-Malvern National Trust Centre and the Malvern Civic Society have arranged a yearly holiday likely to be of interest to their members.
Railway Visits

The Friends of Malvern’s Railway Group arranges occasional visits. The last trip was to the narrow gauge Brecon Mountain Railway on Saturday 14th September 2019.

A visit to Didcot Railway Centre is planned for Saturday 26th August 2023.  More information is available here.
