DESCRIPTION:To be given by George Demidowicz \n\n\n\nA cash strapped King Charles 1 attempted to raise revenue by exploiting the rights he enjoyed over the Royal Forests or Chases such as Malvern. These he shared with the neighbouring lords. The deal was that he gave up his rights over the “venison and vert” across the Chase provided he could enclose a third of the area. This\, the “King’s Thirds”\, could then be leased or sold to raise revenue. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6.30 for refreshments with the talk following at 7.30pm

DESCRIPTION:Do join us for a private visit to this fascinating waste management facility that burns household waste to generate electricity to power about 25\,000 homes. We will have an explanatory talk followed by a tour of the main production area. \n\n\n\nVisit Leader: Sheila Wallett \n\n\n\nMaximum number: 15 \n\n\n\nStart: 10am. Please arrive by 9.30 to allow for registration and allocation of protective clothing. Finish: around 12.30. \n\n\n\nTransport: car share necessary because there is space for only 10 cars to park. \n\n\n\nNB. Health and Safety Advice. There are several flights of mesh type stairs up and down and you must be able to walk for at least 45 minutes without rest during the tour\, which may not be suitable for anyone suffering from vertigo. Wheelchair users and those with mobility issues are welcome to attend the talk and view certain parts of the site through a window.

DESCRIPTION:Discover the rich heritage of one of England’s most charming spa towns\, famed for its invigorating Water Cure. \n\n\n\nJoin one of Malvern Civic Society’s volunteer guides to trace the town’s evolution from a 19th century spa destination to its important role in the development of radar in World War II. Along the way\, explore Victorian architecture\, Great Malvern Priory connections to composer Sir Edward Elgar\, and sites celebrated through Malvern’s many Blue Plaques\, commemorating notable visitors and residents. \n\n\n\nWhether you are a first time visitor or a lifelong resident\, you will leave with a deeper appreciation of Malvern’s cultural and historical legacy. \n\n\n\nThe 90 minute tours operate every Saturday and Monday from April to October\, starting at 10.30 from the Tourist Information Office (TIC) at 6 Church Street Malvern (01684 892289) .  The cost is £7 per adults\, free for 14-16 year olds. Private group walks may be available. Enquire directly with the TIC. \n\n\n\nDue to the content of the tours and the hilly nature of malvern\, these walks are not suitable for children under 14 years of age\, or for anyone with mobility issues. Sorry\, but no dogs\, except for assistance dogs. \n\n\n\nTickets are available from Ticketsource. If the site shows SOLD OUT\, more tickets may be available directly from the Malvern TouristInformation Centre. \n\n\n\nA limited number of tickets are also available via TicketSource up to 8.00am on Monday for the Monday walks and noon on Friday for Saturday walks). Tickets booked via TicketSource incur a small fee.  If TicketSource shows ticket as sold out\, tickets may still be available from the Tourist Information Centre. \n\n\n\nAs group sizes are limited\, booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment.
