Talk: Farmsteads and Buildings: Recording and Researching the past for the future

Alan will start by explaining his involvement with farmsteads projects and then examine the different types of farm buildings and look at how they are organised and why. The methodology used to record and research farm buildings will then be outlined along with the progress made to date with the Worcestershire Farmsteads Project.

Alan is leader of a voluntary project recording and researching historic farm buildings in Worcestershire, setting them where possible within their economic and landscape background, after leading a similar project in Wiltshire. He recently completed a book about a Wiltshire farmer and is now researching late enclosure in Worcestershire.
