Professor Ian Morison is an astronomer and astrophysicist; he served as the 35th Gresham Professor of Astronomy and has made many contributions to ‘The Sky At Night’. His talk is an historical survey of the development of the Jodrell Bank Observatory, with particular emphasis on the 76m Lovell telescope. Some of its most exciting early discoveries will be described, along with its current role in observing pulsars to test Einstein’s theories.
