According to Pevsner, this 15th century, moated, half-timbered mansion is ‘the most picturesque house in Worcestershire’ and is not usually open to the public. It played a central role in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. After years of decline, it was rescued and restored in the 20th century by the present owner. The grounds and garden have been attractively developed with structures from other historic venues. Next door is an interesting medieval church.
