Date: Saturday 16th July 2022 meeting at 9.50am for a 10.00am start.

Where to Meet. We meet in the car park of Colwall Railway Station, Station Approach (Post Code WR13 6QH). Gather around the notice boards by the entrance to the station. There are parking spaces and parking on the road. All parking is free, at the present time. Alternatively, you could always travel to and return from the walk by rail! The Station is next door to the Colwall Park Hotel (Post Code WR13 6QG) – see venue for lunch.

Distance. The walk is about 4.25 miles long and will take around 2.75 hours to complete, including talk stops. We take an anticlockwise circular meander around Colwall Stone, through beautiful fields, mixed woodland and orchards. Generally, we will be using good footpaths and tracks but there may be a few narrow paths infested with nettles close by. There will be some walking on highways and through fields with cattle and sheep. Dogs are not advised. There are no styles or steep gradients. Robust footwear is recommended, particularly if it has been raining when the footpaths could be muddy and slippery.

Lunch. The Colwall Park Hotel has a good lunch menu and bar snacks available. Seating is available inside and outside in their extensive garden. You are advised to book beforehand if you would like to stay for lunch.  Tel: 01684 540000 or visit their website: colwall.co.uk

Dogs are not advised on this walk because of the chance of walking through fields of livestock, in particular sheep. However, the Colwall Park Hotel make dogs very welcome.

Points of interest. Colwall’s industry changed dramatically with better roads and the arrival of the railway. Only a few remnants remain but this walk will give a fascinating historical insight into why, where and how. You will be walking through some lovely and varied countryside with great views of the Malvern Hills from the western side.

Walk Leader. The walk is being led by Alan Seddon. You will need to contact him if you need to cancel or are delayed at the start of the walk. His mobile number is: 07434 940784
