Meeting Point: We meet at the Reserve; Bridges Stone, Nr. Alfrick, Worcester WR6 5HR. Parking is limited at the reserve but we have permission to use a nearby field for this. There are toilets and a disabled toilet available on site.
Distance: A leisurely stroll of about 3 miles taking approx. 2 hours.
Route/ Terrain: The reserve consists of old valley meadows, woodland and orchard. However, paths will be uneven and steep with steps in places which can be slippery and muddy when wet. We will be walking along the edge of the Leigh Brook. Apart from the main entrance, most access points have kissing gates so there are few if any stiles. Stout walking shoes or walking boots, if wet, are recommended. The walk is rated as relatively easy.
Main Features: We are being taken on a tour of the reserve and have chosen the month of June for this walk because we hope the wild flowers will be at their best, particularly the wild orchards. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a lead.
Lunch: No arrangements have been made for lunch but there is a small picnic area at the reserve that could be used. The nearest pub looks to be The Nelson Inn, Longley Green, Suckley. WR6 5EF. Phone; 01886 884530.
Leader: Brian Iles
