We are pleased to announce that this excursion, originally planned for 2020, will now take place on Wednesday, 13th October.
Leicester is an ancient town, dating from Roman times. It has a rich heritage of buildings and was particularly prosperous in Victorian times. It shot into the national news in 2012 when the body of Richard lll was found under a car park. A state-of-the-art visitor centre was opened opposite the Cathedral where he is now buried. Richard lll will be our focus in the morning. In the afternoon, members of Leicester Victorian Society will lead us on a tour of the impressive 19th century city centre.
Lunch: Bring your own or choose a café or restaurant in the city centre.
Start: 7.45 a.m. Pick up point Avenue Road, opposite Willows Kiosk. Return at about 6.30 p.m.
Maximum number 30 (40) – On the advice of the coach company, and in order to be Covid-19 safe, we are offering 30 guaranteed places and ten reserve places, the latter to be confirmed closer to the departure date.
