Date and Time of walk: – Thursday 29th December starting at 10.00am.
Meeting Point and car parking: – The Malvern Hills Trust – British Camp carpark (WR13 6DW). Parking fee £4.80 for those without an annual parking ticket.
Where does the walk go?: – We end our programme of Country Walks for 2022 with a walk to The Obelisk in Eastnor Park, a prominent landmark that can be seen for many miles around and, weather permitting, affords great views of the surrounding countryside and further into Wales, Shropshire and beyond. We will also enjoy stunning views as we make our way to and from the Obelisk.
Dogs are welcome but they will have to be kept on the lead in Eastnor Park and where sheep and cattle are grazing.
Distance: – Just over 5 miles and will take about 2 ½ hours.
Details of possible hazards/difficulties: – A steep climb to start with and further steep climbs on uneven ground and descents, all between level stretches. If it has rained in the previous few days, leading up to the walk, paths will be very muddy, particularly in the woods. Stout walking boots will be essential and be prepared for temperatures that will be several degrees lower on the hills. There is one stile.
Lunch: – Lunch or snacks are available at either the Malvern Hills Hotel or the ever-popular Kiosk both opposite the car park. If enough of us want lunch at the Malvern Hill Hotel I will make enquiries about booking a table. Please contact me as soon as possible.
